Pre-registering with AERA/AEC’s HUGS program enables you to Help Us Give Superior service to you
and your pet. We sincerely hope that your pet never actually needs our services but...
we want to be ready, just in case.

How can I register my pet?
Simply fill out the questionnaire with the required information HERE.

What will you do with this information?
The information will be entered into our confidential database. Your pet will be assigned a unique
patient ID#. If your pet ever needs emergency or specialty care at either of our facilities, the information will be immediately accessible to our veterinarians.

How will I know you received my registration?
As soon as your entry is completed you will receive an email confirmation.

How will I know that my pet’s information has been entered into the system?
Once the data has been entered into the system, you will be mailed a HUGS welcome packet.

What will my HUGS welcome packet contain?
Your HUGS welcome packet will contain the following items:

  • Pet information confirmation
  • A courtesy voucher that you can use once to receive $20 - off any visit to AERA in Fairfield, NJ. 
  • A magnet that gives you (or your pet caregivers) easy access to our phone numbers and website
  • Our current brochures so you can learn more about the services we offer
  • A HUGS tag for your pet’s collar

What is a HUGS tag and why is it advantageous to have one?
When pets are found wandering lost on weekends and holidays and family veterinarians and town offices
are closed, it can be difficult to identify their owners despite rabies tags and micro-chips. The HUGS
tag will identify your pet as being a registered member of AERA's HUGS program and will have a
unique identifying number on it, making it quick and easy for us to reunite you with your pet!

In addition, if we cannot reach you and your pet requires medical attention, we will be able to address your
pet’s immediate needs until you can be reached.

How will I be able to update my pet’s information in the future if there are changes?
You can call Purnima Rupram at 973-226-3282 or email her at prupram@animalerc.com She will complete the changes and send you a confirmation that the changes have been made.

Will I be able to preauthorize treatment and payment at AERA-AEC for my boarding kennel,
pet sitter, etc, in case of emergency?
Yes, that can be done by calling Purnima Rupram at 973-226-3282. She will be happy to assist you.

What if my pet has been treated in the past at AERA?  Can I still register in the program?
Absolutely – we will consider it an opportunity to make sure that the information for you and your pet
is up to date in our system.
