Chris A. Hunt, BVSc, Diplomate,
American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr. Chris A. Hunt was born in Sydney, Australia and graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney in 1976. Following graduation, he moved to the United States and spent two years in general practice. 

Dr. Hunt was the director of the Trauma Emergency Service at the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital from 1978 until 1980. He began his surgical training in 1980 with a residency in small animal surgery at Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Canada.  He continued his surgical training at a specialty hospital in South Weymouth, Massachusetts from 1982 until 1988 when he relocated to New Jersey, where he started his own surgical practice in 1991.  He became board certified by the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 1990. 

Dr. Hunt has lectured at veterinary meetings and conferences and has authored a number of scientific articles and papers in such journals as Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Journal of the American Animal Hospital Association, Veterinary Comparative Orthopedics and Traumatology, and Compendium for Continuing Education for the Practicing Veterinarian.  Dr. Hunt is trained and experienced in all fields of veterinary surgery.


Michael Singer, DVM, Diplomate,
American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr. Singer graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. The following year, he completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia.  Dr. Singer also completed a one year intensive surgical internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Surgery in Houston, TX.

Dr. Singer completed a residency in small animal surgery at the University of Illinois in 2003 and became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2005.

Dr. Singer has co-authored a chapter in a veterinary textbook as well as several scientific articles.  He joined AERA in 2005. 

Kelly Johnson, DVM, MS, Diplomate,
American College of Veterinary Surgeons

Dr. Johnson completed her undergraduate work at the University of Richmond in 2002.  She received her doctorate (with high honors) from the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.  The following year, she completed a rotating internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Hope Center for Advanced Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, VA.

Following this, Dr. Johnson completed a residency in small animal surgery at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.  During her residency she earned a Masters degree in Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences by completing a biomechanical study on the kinematics of the Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO).

Dr. Johnson joined the Surgery Dept. at AERA in September 2010 and we are delighted to have her on our team.
