Quality dental care promotes increased longevity and improved quality of life for your pet. Veterinary dental specialists offer a wide variety of services to help pets live long and happy lives. Dogs and cats are stoic and don't always demonstrate obvious dental pain but that does not mean they do not hurt. Frequently when dental issues are addressed, owners are amazed at how happy and lively their pets become.

Director of Dentistry and Oral Surgery at AERA (and her dog, Polly)

Dr. Walker graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Minnesota in 2004. She worked in a general small animal practice in Boise, Idaho for three years prior to starting her residency in dentistry and oral surgery at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2010 she completed her residency training and received her specialty board certification from the American Veterinary Dental College. Dr. Walker was the recipient of the 2007 Academy of Veterinary Dentistry research grant for the evaluation of laboratory and epidemiological factors in dogs with tooth resorption. She has authored several articles and has lectured at the national Veterinary Dental Forum. Her clinical interests include tooth resorption in both cats and dogs, oral oncology, and stomatitis in cats.

She is one of approx. 100 dental specialists practicing in the United States, and is one of only two board-certified dental specialists practicing in the entire state of New Jersey.

Dr. Walker will be contributing regularly to our blog to help pet owners understand dental disease in dogs and cats and will be giving advice on how to prevent these dental problems from occurring in the first place.
