Justin H. Straus, DVM, Diplomate,
American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine

Dr. Straus graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977 and completed his internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. He then completed a residency in Veterinary Internal Medicine at the Ohio State University.  He received his board certification in Internal Medicine in 1982.  After practicing as a staff internist at another specialty center, Dr. Straus partnered with AERA in 1998 to launch the Internal Medicine service, serving as Director of the service and expanding the department to include
Dr. Kantrowitz and a wide array of diagnostics.  He also serves as an Internal Medicine consultant for Antech Diagnostics and has a special interest in acquired heart disease. 
Dr. Straus has participated in clinical trials for the FDA for medications for heart disease and Cushing’s Disease.

Larry Kantrowitz, DVM, Diplomate,
American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine

Dr. Kantrowitz received his Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Cornell University in 1992.  He completed his internship at Oradell Animal Hospital, followed by a non-traditional, practice based residency program at Oradell Animal Hospital in conjunction with the Animal Medical Center, Tufts University, and Cornell University.  Dr. Kantrowitz received his board certification in Small Animal Internal Medicine in 2000 and joined Dr. Straus at AERA in 2003.  He has been published in the area of thyroid disease and has a special interest in endocrinology.  
Dr. Kantrowitz is also an AAHA advisor and was involved in the AAHA Standard Enhancement Task Force, which wrote the latest revision of accreditation for veterinary hospitals.  Dr. Kantrowitz participated with Dr. Straus in the clinical trials for the FDA for the latest veterinary drug for Cushing’s Disease.
