Michael Palescandolo, DVM, received his BS from Fairleigh Dickenson University in 1974, followed by his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Bologna in 1979. After graduation, he worked full time in a local family veterinary practice while also working part time at the newly established Emergency Veterinary Group—the predecessor to AERA. Understanding the need for veterinary emergency medicine and surgery, he stepped up to serve the primary leadership role at AERA in 1984. He spent the next 25 years building the hospital into the outstanding emergency and specialty center it is today. In addition to seeing patients through the emergency service, Dr. Palescandolo also performs all of the tasks required as the President of AERA.
