Diagnostics & Radiology

Animal Emergency & Referral Associates offers a wide variety of on-site diagnostic tools to help your pet get the treatment they need faster. We know the “waiting game” for answers during an emergency or after an appointment with a specialist is a frustrating and potentially worrisome experience, which is why we offer the latest digital radiography (X-ray), ultrasound, minimally invasive scoping, echocardiogram, CT and MRI technology on-site. We also offer a full service, state-of-the-art, 24/7 initial diagnostics laboratory for quick results when seconds matter.

Digital Radiography (X-ray)

Digital radiography allows us to easily enhance and share X-ray imagery for more efficient evaluation.

Echocardiogram

Echocardiogram scans use a type of ultrasound imaging to evaluate structure, function, and disease processes of the heart.

Minimally Invasive Scoping

Endoscopy, bronchoscopy, and thoracoscopy are minimally invasive, nonsurgical diagnostic procedures that use a small scope to view and/or sample the digestive tract, airways, and chest cavity, respectively.

Ultrasound

This type of scan uses sound waves to produce images of the body’s internal organs, revealing potential disease or injury.

CT (Computed Tomography)

A CT machine uses multiple X-rays at various angles to create “slice” images through a given area of the body. This decreases overlap of structures in the body and results in better evaluation of complex areas, such as the skull. It lets us evaluate complicated disease, such as fractures with many small pieces or overlapping structures in the lungs, which would otherwise be extremely difficult to accurately assess.

MRI

An MRI uses magnetic fields to create images of the body’s internal structures without the use of radiation. This machine offers more detailed images of soft tissue than CT and radiographs (X-rays), and is very helpful in diagnosing disease in tissues like the brain, spinal cord, joints, muscles and ligaments.
