Betty Pyatak-Monaghan, VMD received her BS in Biology from Montclair State University in 1982. While working in a different industry, she decided to get a taste of veterinary medicine by volunteering at AERA (then known as the Emergency Veterinary Group) in 1984. Realizing that she had found her calling, she attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and received her VMD in 1989. That same year, she joined the veterinary staff at AERA. In 1998, she became a board-certified specialist with the ABVP in Canine and Feline care and recertified for her specialty in 2008. In addition to seeing patients through the emergency service, Dr. Pyatak-Monaghan also serves as the Vice President and Hospital Director of AERA.
